Microsoft has added Twitter search results to the news search page on its search engine, Bing.
Twitter results now show up in a far right-hand column on the page just below the "most recent" section. The tweets scroll in real-time but you have the option to pause them if you want to read a particular tweet.
This comes a few weeks after Google began adding social search results to their search results.
Clearly the increasing role that social networks are playing in search engine results is going to make an impact in the SEO and traditional web world.
Now, more than ever, it is critical that a brand has an extensive social presence and that all of its content is optimized. Further, adding these results to search results is making a Facebook page and an active Twitter stream almost as important as a quality, search engine optimized website.
